Everywhere we look we are seeing individuals indulging in trends. Every year something new sparks the interest of many fashionistas, but should we follow trend? This has always been a question for most. I am the type of individual that will wear what ever makes me happy, trendy or not. Trends come and go so I have always chose to just be true to my individual style. I encourage you to only opt for trendy pieces when they fit in with your sense of style and character.

Denim on denim or should I say the Canadian tuxedo? DENIM has always been on trend and I do not see denim going out of style anytime soon. Although it has always been on trend the only thing that has changed is the shape and style of the denim pieces that are being worn. Companies are producing denim asymmetrical hem skirts and denim pants with sequins and leather; I have also seen reverse or inside out denim wear. Regardless of the year a good timeless piece of denim will never go out of style.

Sheer pieces are once again all the rage. Sheer, lacy or see through items have always graced my wardrobe. SHEER or LACY pieces can be dressed up and down. I can wear them sexy or edgy. Some people find it hard to incorporate these items in their closet, when they are truly really easy to wear. If you are struggling to see how to wear an item and you can not wear it in more than one outfit than I would advise you to rethink the purchase.

Another item that has always been in my wardrobe is SEQUINS! I remember a time when sparkly items were saved for the holidays or special occasion. Not in my closet! Every day deserves a little sparkle if you ask me. I enjoy dressing my sparkle down by adding a pair of hightop converse or just cool sneakers all together. Take a look in your closet and see how you can add a little sparkle to someones' day.

In the end do not forget that trend does not just stop at clothing items. Trend can be incorporated with accessories. If you you are looking for an easy way to try out a trend and you are not sure you want to add anything big to your wardrobe, look for pieces of statement jewelry, bags or even shoes that speak to your personal style. For example my black and white high top converse actually have a sequin look to them even though you can not tell from the photo. Not big on color, add a pop of color with a cool purse or clutch like in my first photo. Add some cool new frames to your glasses or sunnies. The fashion world has no boundaries, explore and have fun while you're doing it!
