Kimonos, How Many Ways?

I love a good kimono/duster? Yes, I will be using kimono and duster interchangeably through out this blog in case you are wondering. The material on these beautiful pieces of apparel are everything, it helps determine the way you style it. The material is what determines the season you style it in and the way you layer; or not. In case you are thinking about it, yes, I even have kimonos that are of heavier material. Kimonos that are of heavier material work well for cooler weather. I have learned that adding versatile pieces like this not only elevates my wardrobe but it also helps to expand my wardrobe style.

During the fall and winter my velvet duster is the star of any outfit. I love wearing this duster over just about everything in the cooler months. I enjoy dressing it up and down. In this photo I paired it on top of my winter jumper with knee high combat boots. This was the perfect outfit for a cup of coffee in the park.

Lets not forget to add a little sparkle for the holidays. Add a sequin duster and you will outshine all at the holiday soiree. Don't worry even this sequin kimono can be dressed down. Like I always say, why wait for a holiday to sparkle when we can sparkle everyday. Do not be afraid to wear your pieces on any given day. Try pairing your sparkle with a basic white tee, some distressed denim shorts and hightop converse. The photo below is a perfect example of how I sparkle on an ordinary day!

For spring/summer we will bring out the sheer, mesh and silky versions of this beautiful apparel. Do not let the fabric scare you. Kimonos and dusters can be styled so many different ways. Not only can you wear them to top off an outfit but they also work well as dresses. I love watching them blow in the wind while paired with a nice summer dress just as much as I enjoy wearing it belted as a dress.

The beautiful concept of wearing a piece of clothing I enjoy adds confidence and individuality to my style. You will learn that I am not afraid to mix and match my colors and prints. I truly love clothing. There is nothing more exciting to me then putting on something I feel good wearing.

Make this season the season you truly start to enjoy your clothing. If you have not honed in on your personal style, take the time to evaluate your closet. Does it consist of pieces you truly love or is it filled with trends you no longer appreciate? Do the work now so your wardrobe can work for you in the next seasons to come!
